No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from others kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
