When will You Going to Understand that Hold’em Poker is All About Position!
Posted in Poker on 08/19/2010 11:21 am by LillyI have been wagering poker now for about five years, I’ve wagered cards my entire life beginning with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various types of Brag and general random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so beautifully called, card on head casino game. I used to often win, whatever game we were wagering and although I liked to call it skill, it was really difficult to justify considering the randomness of the games we were betting, so I was over joyed to accept I was having a long run of luck.
Then came Poker, or much more importantly Texas holdem Poker, made popular by a group of Texas card players in the 60’s and since grown into one of the biggest card phenomena ever observed. Poker is totally the new black, it really is ultra awesome with several of the world’s top stars racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick flick through the TV channels nowadays and you are able to not escape from poker, and needless to say there’s the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all combined into one for each individual player.
So with all of this new discovered recognition, with so several Tv programmes dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves loaded up with high quality material written by the foremost minds on poker, when are folks going to understand that this casino game is all about position!?
Perhaps I really should not receive so worked up about this, after all the much more persons who wrestle with the subtle techniques and strategies needed for winning regularly at Texas hold’em, the far better it truly is for everyone else, right? I mean, if they cannot be troubled to look at all of the available data about why placement is so important, why need to we bother? We should just be glad there’s another fish at the table!
It’s true, we must not encourage idleness with guidance and guide. However, I liken this to a helpful game of football. Granted the stakes aren’t so high, but when you observe a gambler struggling, you support them, provide them a few advice, ultimately showing them a method to enjoy, love and be grateful for the casino game as much as you. I’m asking all house gamblers to do a similar thing with their poker buddies who haven’t quite got a handle on the nuances of playing position. Support them to grow their respect for the game. Needless to say, do not attempt to try this one in your community gambling den, the sharks will not take pleasure in you instructing their lunch how to swim!
