No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
