Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve closing table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest gamblers in the world. While gambling on web poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest players in the world could be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found gambling on online poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
