No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative feedback from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.
He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
