No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
