He began playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
