No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five where he liked participating in different card games when he was young. He found himself getting very competitive in these card games as he was competing against his dad. After finishing Sr. High school, Howard decided to put college on hold for a little bit and moved away to New York to compete in some formidable chess. While participating in chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s 1st 2 years were difficult as he would play extensive hours and lost a majority of the time. He made some additional cash by being an runner for the poker players. He judged he could boost his game by balancing his life outside of poker. He made an attempt to get more rest and focus attention more on poker.

The actual advancement in his game happened when he began gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best gamblers would frequently play against each other. He was able to access some of the best minds in chess. With their assistance, he would tweak his logical thinking skills. Howard used these strategy ideas in the game of No-Limit texas hold’em.

Howard also helped his sister Annie Duke learn poker. Annie was an excellent student of the game as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the correct decision. Howard told Annie Duke to move out to Las Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker competition. Annie is one of the strongest female players the poker world today. Howard moved to Sin City in 1993 and played money games for the subsequent decade. When the WPT gained popularity, Howard decided to compete in more tournaments.
